Global Shapers Annual Summit 2019
Sept 12 2019 \\ Events
The Curators Annual Summit was truly fantastic, a once in a lifetime experience.
Hearing from a number of people who have achieved significant things in their impressive careers (including Klaus Schwab, Abi Ramanan, Ellyn Shook and Lindiwe Mazibuko) was an honour. Their wisdom and experience in working towards a more peaceful, sustainable world provided huge inspiration, and indeed huge challenge, to everyone who was at the summit.
Getting the opportunity to develop personally and professionally was also a core part of the weekend. All of the new Curators completed Impact Labs which ensured our projects fit with the aims of the wider Global Shapers Community and other Hubs. We were encouraged to reflect throughout the weekend; a vital factor in ensuring humble, servant leadership. We also completed a number of workshops which guided our thinking in achieving our collective and hub specific mandates. We have already found a number of ways to complete cross-hub collaboration to ensure that there is significant and lasting impact across the world. Watch this space!
The final reflection that I will note was my favourite thing from the whole summit: having the opportunity to connect with ambitious and driven people from all over the world who are committed to making lasting change in their communities. I particularly love how so many of these people are using their platform to amplify the voices of other young people in their communities.
